Using the shock and spring travel and the motion ratio, the total wheel travel can be calculated to ensure that the suspension will not bottom out or bind under normal operation. 

Can improve the vehicle's handling in many ways (adding track width, wheelbase, fixing camber or toe curves, etc.) 

Regular inspection of suspension parts is necessary so problems can be identified and corrected before they become performance and safety issues.
